BTS Arts Teacher Spotlight- Kirsten Anderson
February 10, 2023As a community focused organization, artsFUSION is delighted to partner with Cedar Breaks National Monument to provide artwork in celebration of the new visitor center station opening summer of 2023.

Alisa Petersen, BTS Endowed Assistant Professor at SUU, created a science + arts integrated lesson, and Cedar Breaks superintendent, Kathleen Gonder will teach about the many connections between the monument and the Utah elementary science standards. The workshop will focus on the plants, animals and geological formations of the Cedar Breaks area, and demonstrate how these can be represented in a simple printmaking process.

artsFUSION is providing classroom sets of the needed materials to workshop participants, and SUU Education students will be paired with local teachers to assist with the printmaking process in their classrooms. Artwork will then be entered into a competition for use in promotional materials and souvenirs at the Cedar Breaks gift shop.
