BTS Arts Teacher Highlight – Jared Nicholson
December 21, 2022
Lyndy Butler has a passion and creative mind for music education. As a performer, she brings a rich background to the classroom and her students. Lyndy is thoughtful in her music lesson preparation. She collaborates with classroom teachers and integrates the core curriculum into a creative process. Her love for music is apparent, and her students emulate her energy and excitement.
Recently she organized and directed a Veterans Day Program. With the support of her Principal and school community, they had outstanding attendance. Students showcased what they learned, including playing instruments.
In Lyndy’s own words, she said, “I am super proud of our Veterans Day performance. Hurricane Elementary hasn’t had a public assembly since Covid, and this invitation for parents and Veterans to come was accepted!! The whole town showed up for their little people, and it was amazing. After only having music for a few months, these performers did an amazing job! Each grade had its song to perform. The faculty helped with the transitions of moving the classes in and out, and Mr. Lowe bought us some awesome new risers, so every grade level fit on the stage. The 5th grade added Drums and Rhythm sticks and had a soloist. It was a Grand Finale!”
Way to go Lyndy, and Hurricane Elementary!
