Integrated Standards

  • SCIENCE STANDARD 2: OBJECTIVE 2: Observe and describe changes in day and night:
  • a. Compare and contrast light and dark in a day / night cycle and identify the changes as a pattern.
  • b. Investigate, interpret, and explain to others that the sun provides heat and light to Earth.
  • c. Examine what happens when you block the sun’s light. Explore shadows and temperature change

Objectives

Kindergarten students will understand the difference between day and night (the lightness, darkness and contrasting activities) and they will also dance about the sun giving off heat and light. Finally they will watch their shadows to dance as they gain an understanding that their bodies block the light of the sun which creates the shadows.
