Fine Art Standards

  • DANCE STANDARD 2: The student will identify and demonstrate movement elements (time, space, energy and motion) in performing dance.
  • DANCE STANDARD 3: The student will improvise, create, perform, and respond to movement solutions in the art form of dance.

Integrated Standards

  • 3RD GRADE SCIENCE STANDARD 3: Students will understand the relationship between the force applied to an object and resulting motion of the object.
  • OBJECTIVE 1: Demonstrate how forces cause changes in speed or direction of objects.
  • a. Show that objects at rest will not move unless a force is applied to them.
  • b. Compare the forces of pushing and pulling.

Objectives

Through dance, the 3rd grade students will gain an understanding that an object at rest will not move unless a force is applied. They will also experience the difference between pushing and pulling and the fact that the speed and direction are affected due to the amount of force applied.
