Creating Student Artwork Displays – Tips and Tricks with GreenWood Charter School
March 14, 2023WSU’s Arts Learning Collaborative and the Davis School District’s Fine Arts Team recently collaborated on “Developing Phenomenal Humans: Arts Skills and Integration for K-6 Classroom – Professional Development for Davis School District Educators.” This workshop and video series focuses on the skills classroom teachers need to facilitate DSD arts foundational skills in music and visual art. Workshops (presented by Jennifer Purdy, Shanda Stenger, and Erinne Roundy) were offered in grade-level specific groupings: K-1, 2-3, & 4-6.

Resources created specifically for DSD K-6 classroom teachers include complete lesson plans for each standard and grade in both music and art, as well as video resources to accompany the in-person workshops. The brief videos walk educators through teaching and assessing each visual art and music standard and can be utilized by DSD educators as they continue to grow this series.

Future plans for “Developing Phenomenal Humans: Arts Skills and Integration for K-6 Classroom: Professional Development for Davis School District Educators” include a continuation of workshops offered for DSD classroom teachers that will be facilitated by the DSD instructional coaches. The WSU Arts Learning Collaborative is adapting this professional development model to open it up for all districts and schools in their service area.
